It WAS good for shock value but I also believe that it kind of went over the top and with that comes the possibility that its targeted audience (teens, I'm assuming, because I read they were using this for driving courses in the UK) might laugh it off. I almost think it was unrealistic, because honestly? Who takes THAT long to send a text while not looking at the road? I'm sure those people are out there but the kids who see this are going to scream, "What?! I would never take my eyes off the road for THAT long!" I think there's a balance that needs to be kept when it comes to these things.

I agree that this video is a success, and you've pointed out one reason why: shock value.

The other reason (which you've also discussed) is that it's sending a great message. Texting while driving is just plain dangerous. Like yourself, I used to sneak a few peaks while on the road, but since watching the video have found some self-restraint.

I'm glad a message was sent out in a way that could reach those who most need to see this video: our peers in the millennial/GenY generation. Using a viral video fit for sites like YouTube is a testament to choosing the appropriate channel for your target audience.

Lots of lessons to be learned from this. Most of all: Don't Text and Drive!
